Japan, located in the Pacific Ocean, is a beautiful island nation filled with vibrant cities, ancient imperial palaces, breathtaking mountainous national parks, and a plethora of shrines and temples. One of the fastest and most convenient ways to travel between the main islands of Kyushu (home to Okinawa's subtropical beaches), Honshu (which boasts Tokyo and Hiroshima's atomic-bomb memorial), and Hokkaido (famous for its skiing) is through the use of Shinkansen bullet trains. The bustling capital city of Tokyo is renowned for its towering skyscrapers, world-class shopping, and cutting-edge pop culture.
